The Sanneh Foundation

The Sanneh Foundation

This year a friend of Northern Toboggan & Sled purchased a downhill toboggan and donated it to The Sanneh Foundation's annual gala. The proceeds from the silent auction raised over $450,000 for creating opportunity for those less fortunate. We at Northern Toboggan share the values of this wonderful foundation! Mission: The Sanneh Foundation, a 501(c)3 youth development organization, provides life skills programs for at-risk children using soccer as the catalyst to empower kids, improve lives and unite communities.
  • We empower kids by providing leadership-skill development and mentoring, along with access to a safe and healthy environment to learn and play.
  • We improve lives by supporting and promoting educational attainment through in-school and after-school programming, tutoring and college preparatory training.
  • We unite communities by advancing diversity, promoting community service, and fighting racism through individual training and institutional change.

History Tony Sanneh, a St. Paul native and recently retired professional soccer player, founded The Sanneh Foundation in 2003 with a goal of helping inner city kids.  After 15 years playing professional soccer – including playing for the U.S. in the 2002 World Cup – Tony moved back to St. Paul in 2009 to dedicate himself full-time to work of The Sanneh Foundation. “I grew up with my communities constantly helping and supporting me.   There was never any doubt in my mind that I would come back to Minnesota and offer that same support to others.” – Tony Sanneh
