Mother's Day Reflection

Mother's Day Reflection

Before May and the month that hosts Mother’s Day escapes us, I want to recognize my preschool son’s reflection I received a few weeks ago. I am thankful for his dear teacher who took the time to ask these questions and capture his innocent thoughts.

Every line is my favorite, of course, but it is the sixth line that prompted me to share here:

“My mom is as busy as toboggans.”

I was both caught off guard by his answer and humbled. You see, I know it is his grandfather who stays the busiest with the actual building of toboggans. What once was a “slow” time of the year for our shop has now become one of our busiest as we tend to orders for our northernmost friends in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut, as well as the occasional order from locations such as Northeast Georgia and Connecticut. It is our shop team who works with each piece of wood and labors to make sure our products are ready to embrace the snow and cold temperatures come fall and winter. It is our shop team who is busy. That being said, I guess there is a young boy who sees his mom working on tasks behind the scenes and knows that his mom is “as busy as toboggans”. I can’t help but smile about that. :-)
