Downhill Design and Dimensions

These wooden toboggans are not mass produced or cost-engineered -- rather, each board is finished from rough lumber, steam bent individually, and fastened tightly by hand. By learning from generations of woodworkers, we have continued to perfect the natural bending process that allows us to use thicker boards. Once bent and fastened, our Craftsman laminates every wooden toboggan crosspiece in order to withstand decades of repeated twisting. The gradual initial curl allows our downhill sled to ride higher, coasting atop the fresh powder rather than plowing into snow drifts. The red oak we use to construct each sled provides a beautiful and durable grain, a perfect blend of sturdy function and winter style.
